Deleting old index

I am using Incremental Merge Flush policy, the latest index prefix would have aggregated index of whole documents.

I want to configure delete policy so that the old indices get purged after reaching some time interval threshold value. I wrote manual java file delete code to delete old index(data-1.lexicon.fsomapfile, data-1.inverted.bf, data-1.lexicon.fsomaphash, data-1.document-df.fsarrayfile). But i am getting

"java.io.IOException: Unable to delete file:"

exception when file.delete() code is executed.

I can see incrementalIndex object is using old indices. So I called

incrementalIndex.close()

on index object. Still I am getting the same error.

How can I achieve purging in incremental merge index?
