Retrieval - external files at topics

Hello,

I want to read the <file> so I can fulfill the query.

<topic>
<num>EP-1221372-A2</num>
<narr>Find all patents in the collection that potentially invalidate patent application EP-1221372-A2.</narr>
<file>EP-1221372-A2.xml</file>
</topic>

Can you help me?
Thanks

Dear Nick,

Sorry, I'm not sure what "fulfill" the query means? Our standard topic parser doesnt understand <file> tags (nor do I). Can you explain more?

Hello and thanks for your reply.

This is the query that I want to execute at my index but I don't know how to read the EP-1221372-A2.xml ( inside the tag <file> ) which is a xml file outside the collection of index.

The query says to find the relevant patents of the collection that I have indexed that invalidate the specific file inside the tag <file>.

Is this better to understand?

Thanks,
Nick

Hi Nick.

I think this is something particular to your experiment, and you will have to develop some way to include the contents of the file listed within the <file> tag, and thereby add those terms to the query.

Isnt the simplest thing just use the EP-1221372-A2.xml as the topic files itself?

Yes, that's good idea. I'll try it.
Thank you!
